Many participants initially feel nervous attending alone. In reality, around half of the course participants attend solo. Everyone shares a common hobby, diving, which offers opportunities for new friendships and social connections.
Diving is fun, but safety is essential. HOBO-YA maintains a 1:4 instructor-to-student ratio. This allows instructors to monitor and guide each participant closely, ensuring safe practice in the water.
Instructors provide individual attention to ensure no student is rushed or overlooked. Lessons are face-to-face with interactive teaching, allowing instructors to gauge each student’s understanding and progress carefully.
Diving conditions significantly influence the experience. Phuket offers warm, calm waters for relaxed learning. Additionally, air-conditioned classrooms provide a comfortable environment for theory lessons even in tropical heat.
You must be able to swim 200 meters or swim 300 meters with a mask, snorkel, and fins. Most people can achieve 300 meters with equipment, as no breathing interruptions are needed. Additionally, a diving jacket provides buoyancy underwater and on the surface, and diving equipment allows safe breathing, making it possible for non-swimmers to enjoy Phuket’s underwater world safely.

After completing the course, you may want to dive more. Phuket has many attractive dive sites, some not covered in the course. Enjoy dynamic sites with abundant marine life. Even if you feel unsure, additional practice can solidify your skills and knowledge.

Many students complete the course smoothly. If you wish to dive deeper, consider advancing to the Open Water Diver course.
Those taking medication cannot dive. Please consult us if you have any past medical conditions.
Diving involves underwater pressure. People taking medications may not be able to dive safely. Certain conditions, such as high blood pressure, heart issues, or pneumothorax, may also prevent diving. Please consult us in advance.
Diving is not a difficult sport. You start with a theory lesson from a Japanese instructor, then practice basic skills in a pool before ocean dives. Safety is prioritized; instructors guide you step-by-step so you can learn at your own pace without rushing.
