Certified and non-certified divers can also dive together.
Families, couples, and friends are all welcome to join.

We have a variety of rental options, so please let us know when booking.

Introductory diving is available from 8 years old, and certification courses from 10 years old.
Many divers in their 60s and 70s are now enjoying diving.
As long as you’re healthy and have basic fitness, anyone can enjoy scuba diving.

Many of our guests book solo.
Our Japanese staff from HOBO-YA Phuket are also on board, so you can enjoy your time during the cruise.
Diving also gives you the chance to meet new friends who share the same passion.

Most dive boats in Phuket are large two-deck or three-deck cruisers with a sundeck.
They are comfortable and safe even during sudden tropical showers in the rainy season.
Lunch is usually a buffet with Thai dishes.
Most boats also provide hot drinks, soft drinks, fruits, and snacks.
Freshwater showers are available so you can rinse off the salt and change into dry clothes after diving.

On days with rough seas, especially during the rainy season, some guests may experience seasickness. Causes can include fatigue, an empty stomach, lack of sleep, or drinking too much alcohol the night before.
Please make sure to rest well before joining a dive trip.
Seasickness medication is also available on board.

During the rainy season, there are rare occasions when the captain may decide to cancel or change the destination for safety reasons due to weather or sea conditions, either before or after departure.
If a tour is canceled due to bad sea conditions, there will be no cancellation fee.
However, if the tour operates and you cancel due to personal reasons, the standard cancellation policy will apply.

If you are certified as an Open Water Diver or higher, you are welcome to join. Depending on sea conditions, there may be waves or currents, so we generally recommend at least 20 logged dives. However, even with fewer dives, you can participate if you meet the following skill requirements (Marine Park trips require an Advanced certification):

  • Able to descend and ascend safely and smoothly on your own (including safety stops).
  • Able to control buoyancy independently and maintain neutral buoyancy at all times.
  • Able to manage air supply, depth, no-decompression limits, and dive time without assistance.
  • Possess the basic skills needed to handle common underwater problems.
  • Remain relaxed underwater and follow the dive guide’s instructions properly.
  • In case your air is consumed unusually quickly, and the guide determines it is necessary, a 15-liter tank (additional fee applies) will be available for use.
If you do not meet the above conditions, please consult HOBO-YA Phuket staff. We will evaluate participation depending on other guests and staff availability. However, if the dive guide on the day judges that your participation could affect other guests or if your skills are unsuitable for the sea conditions, you may be asked to join a separate group or skip that dive (refunds are not possible).

If you feel uncertain about your skills or have been out of diving for a long time, we strongly recommend booking a private guide or taking our Refresh Course. (Mandatory for divers with fewer than 30 logged dives and over one year of inactivity, or any diver with over three years of inactivity.) For minors, a parent or guardian must accompany them.

【About Certification Levels and Depth Limits】

The maximum depth allowed for Open Water Divers is 18m. Many of Phuket’s day trip dive sites have fascinating marine life and spots deeper than 18m. To fully enjoy Phuket diving, we strongly recommend taking one of the following courses on board (or beforehand):

  • SSI Advanced Open Water Diver Course
  • SSI Deep Diving Specialty Course

  • By completing one of these courses, your 18m depth limit will be extended to 30m, giving you access to more dynamic sites with stronger currents, schooling fish, and the chance to encounter big pelagics.

If you cannot take these courses due to time or budget, you will be limited to diving shallower than 18m.

Guests aged 60 to under 70 are welcome to join, but we require submission of a completed medical questionnaire/statement.

    • Both the diver and a family member must sign the medical statement (doctor’s signature not required).
    • Please also provide a copy of a medical check-up taken within one year of the dive trip.
    • If there are any concerns in the medical results, or if you cannot provide a valid check-up report, a doctor’s signature on the medical statement is required.
    • For divers aged 70 and above, a doctor’s signature on the medical statement is always required.

Please download the form from the provided URL and send us a copy or photo of the completed document (bring the original with you on the day of the cruise).
We apologize for the extra step, but this is an important safety measure to prevent accidents and ensure you can enjoy safe and comfortable diving.

On Phuket diving tours, up to three repetitive dives may be conducted in one day, requiring strict precautions against decompression sickness. A dive computer is an essential device to manage no-decompression limits and safely perform multi-level dives.
