The first stage of rescue is preventing problems before they happen. What is stress? Learn about the various factors causing stress to divers—psychological, physical, and equipment-related—and how to prevent or reduce them, helping to avoid diving incidents.

Even in the event of an accident, it is important to control the situation calmly and manage it effectively using proper procedures. Learn what preparation is required, how to assess symptoms or signs in the casualty, and perform appropriate first aid.

Learn the specific rescue skills required when encountering panicked or unconscious divers underwater or at the surface. By practicing step-by-step from discovery to exit and handover to emergency teams, you will gain practical application skills.
To take the SSI Diver Stress & Rescue course, you must be certified as an SSI Advanced Adventurer or hold an equivalent "Advanced Open Water Diver" certification from organizations such as PADI or NAUI. SSI and PADI certifications are mutually recognized, so having an Advanced Open Water certification from another organization is perfectly acceptable.
After completing the SSI Rescue Diver course, the next step is the Divemaster course. You are just one step away from the professional level. This course further develops the awareness of diving cultivated in the Rescue Diver course and helps establish your skills as a professional diver.
