Making Calls from Phuket

How to Call from a Hotel

When using the telephone in your hotel room, first dial the outside line access number (usually 0 or 9). After hearing the dial tone (“beep”), you can then dial the desired phone number. Some hotels require you to go through the hotel operator before making an outside call, so please check in advance.
In Thailand, both local and long-distance calls always require the area code. For example, HOBO-YA Phuket Branch’s number is 076-280-282, where “076” is the Phuket area code. Even when calling from within Phuket, dial the full number including the area code: “076-280-282”.

Calling from Public Phones

With the rise of mobile phones in Thailand, public phones in the streets are decreasing, but airports and shopping malls still have domestic and international public phones.
International phones always have instructions in English, so it is advisable to read them before use. International calls can be made using a credit card or a dedicated phone card, which can be purchased at convenience stores.
