On the final day of the course, you will dive to a slightly greater depth than on the second day. By going deeper, you may discover a new side of Phuket’s ocean. At the end of the course, you can instantly view your digital certification card through a smartphone app. |

It’s common to feel a little anxious about joining alone. In reality, about half of our course participants attend solo. Divers taking courses or joining fun dives share the same hobby, making it easy to meet new people and expand your circle of friends.

Diving is fun, but it can only be enjoyed safely. Acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills properly during the course is essential. At Hobouya, we keep a maximum of 4 students per instructor. Even in your first underwater experience, having the instructor always nearby allows you to practice safely and confidently.

The impression of diving varies greatly depending on the environment of the diving area. Water temperature and currents have the biggest impact on divers. In Phuket, the warm and calm sea allows you to relax and enjoy the course. In addition, air-conditioned classrooms make theoretical lessons comfortable even in the hot tropical climate.
Frequently Asked Questions
You need to swim 200 meters, or 300 meters with a mask, snorkel, and fins. Even if you cannot swim 200 meters, most people can manage 300 meters with a mask and snorkel (no need to breathe).
Additionally, a diving jacket is worn, providing buoyancy both underwater and on the surface. The diving equipment allows easy breathing underwater, so even non-swimmers can safely enjoy the underwater world around Phuket.
Diving depth limits according to license level:
- Scuba Diver: 12 meters
- Open Water Diver: 18 meters (10–11 years old: 12 meters)
- Advanced Diver or higher: 30 meters (under 15 years: 21 meters)
- Deep Diver: 40 meters (15 years and older)
- Swimsuit (any type is fine, but a less bulky swimsuit fits better under a wetsuit)
- Towel
- Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, etc.
- Long-sleeved shirt or windbreaker for cooler days
- On theory lesson days, bring writing materials and lunch

If you are taking medication, you cannot dive. Please consult us in advance if you have any pre-existing medical conditions.
Diving involves increased pressure underwater compared to on land. Therefore, people taking medication cannot participate in diving. Additionally, individuals with high blood pressure, heart conditions, pneumothorax, or other medical histories may not be able to dive. Please consult us beforehand if you have any health concerns.
Diving is not a difficult water sport.
To enjoy diving, you first take theoretical lessons from a Japanese instructor, then practice using the equipment and basic skills in a pool before proceeding to open water. Our school prioritizes safety above all. You will not be taken directly to deep areas or put into the ocean without explanation. With our Japanese diving instructors, you will learn the basics in theory and pool sessions at your own pace, allowing you to experience your first dive comfortably and safely.
Important Information
- If you plan to fly or take other pressurized transport after diving, you must wait at least 18 hours (24 hours recommended) after your last dive.
- The number of dives is only an estimate and may be reduced due to sea conditions. Thank you for your understanding.
- For the tour, please do not bring valuables such as cash or passports beyond the paid fees.
- Please check for belongings when disembarking. Returning forgotten items may incur fees. Thank you for your understanding.
- Dive points may change. If visiting Phi Phi Islands, a separate national park fee (600 THB/person/day) applies.
- Individuals with a history of pneumothorax, or currently taking insulin or blood pressure medication cannot participate. Please check the Medical History Form and confirm that none of the items apply. If they do, a physician's note is required.
- Depending on conditions, a 3-dive boat schedule (returning at 17:00) may be used. Please understand in advance.
Cancellation fees apply as follows:
- Up to 8 days before: Free
- 7 to 1 day before: 50% of the fee
- After 17:00 local time, the day before: 100% of the fee
※ Tours proceed even in rain, unless safety is compromised. Customer-initiated cancellations incur fees.
※ After tour payment, cancellation of educational materials incurs 1,000 THB per person.
Diving tour fees must be paid in advance.
