Beginner to Advanced Depth: 16M~33M Visibility: 5M~20M Current: Weak~Moderate
Located near Anemone Reef, King Cruiser is the largest wreck dive site around Phuket. On May 4, 1997, the 85m-long catamaran-type King Cruiser (a used ship from Japan) veered off course and collided with Anemone Reef, sinking completely. Fortunately, there were no casualties and all onboard were safely rescued. The wreck rests at 32m depth. At 25m, you can explore the engine room; at 18m, the passenger area with a bar and many chairs and tables; at 12m, the captain’s cabin; and at 7m, the funnel. This makes for an exciting and immersive wreck dive. The wreck provides excellent habitat for fish, from reef species to pelagic fish. Schools of Giant Trevally, Barracuda, and Bannerfish are impressive. Bringing an underwater light is recommended to observe hidden groupers inside the wreck. Currents around King Cruiser are generally strong, especially from the shallow areas to the surface, so using a buoy line for descent and ascent is advisable. (Currently, the upper structure of the ship has collapsed, with the shallowest point at 16-18m.)
