A national aquarium located at the tip of Cape Panwa in southern Phuket. It is the only aquarium on the island. Renovated in 2006, its main feature is a 10-meter tunnel tank. While this tank may feel modest to visitors familiar with Japanese aquariums, it showcases dozens of species such as sharks, rays, and sea turtles found around Phuket. Overall, the Phuket Aquarium exhibits over 200 marine species from the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand.

There are no shows or entertainment attractions. The entire aquarium can be toured in under an hour.

The Phuket Aquarium is operated by the Phuket Marine Biological Center, a government agency. Visitors can observe tropical fish, corals, anemones, and sharks from the surrounding Andaman Sea up close. A few minutes' walk from the aquarium, the research center hatches endangered sea turtles and releases them into the wild; visiting the research center requires prior reservation.
