Samao Viewpoint is about a 25-minute drive from Patong Beach and around 10 minutes south from Kata Beach. It sits on a hilltop and is a popular lookout spot for both locals and tourists. "Samao" means "three beaches" in Thai, and from the viewpoint, you can see three beaches along Phuket’s west coast: Kata Beach, Karon Beach, and Kata Noi Beach.
The white sandy beaches curve elegantly along the coastline, and the cobalt-blue gradient stretching out into the sea creates a stunning tropical view. On clear days, it’s a perfect spot for photography. There are rest areas, making it a convenient stop when exploring Phuket by car or motorbike.
The road to Samao Viewpoint is well-paved but steep with many sharp curves. Extra caution is needed when riding a motorbike. There are no public transport options nearby, so make sure to arrange your own transportation.
